Falls and Fracture Prevention

This seminar was presented by Michael Kutcher of Movement for Life Physiotherapy, on behalf of Arthritis & Osteoporosis NT during Seniors Month in August 2011. It covered topics including;

  • Falls prevention (risk assessments of the home e.g. slippery mats, loose electrical cords and choosing appropriate foot wear and clothing)
  • Fall Emergency Plans (knowing how and who to summon for help)
  • Practical Demonstrations of the best way to get up off the ground after a fall (very important so another fracture doesn’t occur after the initial fall)
  • Exercises to help reduce falls
